Aesthetic Treatment

Skin Brightening

Clinical skin brightening using glutathione, vitamin C, brightening peels and laser — evening skin tone, reducing pigmentation, and restoring your natural glow safely and effectively.

What Is It?

Even Tone, Real Glow — Medically Done Right

Dull, uneven skin tone is one of the most common concerns we see at House of Aesthetics — and one of the most achievable to treat when approached correctly. The key is identifying what is driving the dullness: UV-induced melanin, post-inflammatory pigmentation, dehydration, or hormonal triggers all require different interventions.

Our brightening protocols are medically designed — not beauty salon facials. We combine clinical-grade peels, glutathione mesotherapy, targeted laser, and prescription home skincare in a layered approach that addresses pigmentation at every depth of the skin. Results are meaningful, visible, and sustainable when combined with daily sun protection.

Every brightening protocol is assessed and supervised by our MBBS-qualified Clinical Cosmetologist with specialist training in pigmentation management for South Asian skin tones.

The Process

How It Works

1

Skin Tone & Pigmentation Assessment

Your doctor assesses your skin tone, identifies the type and distribution of pigmentation, and reviews your lifestyle and sun exposure habits. A personalised brightening protocol combining in-clinic and home treatments is prescribed.

2

In-Clinic Brightening Treatment

Depending on your protocol: a brightening chemical peel is applied to resurface and even the skin, glutathione and vitamin C mesotherapy is administered to suppress melanin at the cellular level, or Q-switched laser targets stubborn pigmentation deposits.

3

Home Brightening Routine

A prescription home routine is provided — typically including a niacinamide serum, vitamin C product, a depigmenting agent if appropriate, and SPF 50+. Home care is essential: it extends every in-clinic session and prevents UV-driven relapse.

4

Maintenance

After completing the initial course, monthly or bi-monthly maintenance sessions sustain the brightening effect. Consistent daily SPF use is the single most important factor in long-term tone evenness.

Your Care Guide

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Before Your Treatment

  • Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 3 days before peel or laser sessions
  • Apply SPF 50+ daily from the start of treatment — without this, brightening results will not hold
  • Arrive with clean, bare skin — no makeup or SPF on treatment day
  • Avoid direct sun exposure in the week before laser sessions
  • Inform your doctor of any active breakouts, cold sores, or sensitivity in the treatment area

After Your Treatment

  • Apply the prescribed post-treatment soothing serum as directed
  • SPF 50+ is mandatory every morning without exception from the day after treatment
  • Avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks after laser or medium peel sessions
  • Do not pick, scrub, or exfoliate during any post-peel peeling phase
  • Take any prescribed oral supplements (glutathione, vitamin C) consistently
  • Consistency is everything — incomplete courses produce incomplete results

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The primary causes of dull and uneven skin tone in South Asian skin are: chronic UV exposure which triggers excess melanin production across the face, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) from acne and other skin trauma, hormonal fluctuations, dehydration, and accumulated dead skin cells that dull the surface. Pakistani skin — typically Fitzpatrick types IV–V — has more active melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) that respond more readily to these triggers than lighter skin types, making brightening a very common and very achievable goal.

Effective skin brightening uses a layered approach: chemical peels (glycolic, kojic, vitamin C peels) exfoliate pigmented surface cells and stimulate fresh cell turnover, glutathione injections (IV or mesotherapy) reduce melanin synthesis at the cellular level, laser treatments (Q-switched Nd:YAG) target melanin deposits in deeper skin layers, and topical brightening agents (niacinamide, vitamin C, arbutin, kojic acid) suppress melanin production in the home routine. The protocol is matched to your specific type of dullness and pigmentation.

Glutathione is the body's master antioxidant, naturally present in cells. At high doses delivered intravenously or via mesotherapy, it inhibits tyrosinase — the enzyme responsible for melanin production — shifting the skin's melanin production towards lighter eumelanin. Clinical evidence shows measurable brightening with consistent use. However, it is a gradual process requiring multiple sessions, and results are sustained only with ongoing sun protection. Glutathione is most effective when combined with vitamin C (which enhances its activity) and a consistent SPF routine.

The timeline depends on the treatment and the degree of dullness or pigmentation. A brightening peel course (4–6 sessions) typically shows visible improvement in tone evenness within 3–4 weeks. Glutathione mesotherapy requires 6–8 sessions for noticeable brightening. Laser treatments can show more rapid improvement. Most patients see a meaningful brightening shift after completing their first treatment course, with continued improvement over 3 months as cell turnover accelerates.

No — and this distinction matters. Medical skin brightening reduces excess melanin production, evens out hyperpigmentation, and restores the skin's natural, healthy tone. It does not attempt to make skin permanently lighter than its natural baseline. Skin bleaching — using harsh agents like mercury, hydroquinone at very high concentrations, or corticosteroid creams sold without prescription — permanently damages melanocytes and causes long-term skin harm. At HOA, we use safe, medically appropriate brightening protocols that target pigmentation without damaging the skin.

Yes — without daily SPF 50+, brightening treatments will not hold their results. UV exposure is the single biggest driver of melanin production. Every session of brightening treatment that is followed by unprotected sun exposure is partially undone. Patients who commit to daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ (rain or shine, indoors or outdoors) see results that last far longer and require fewer maintenance sessions. Physical sunscreens (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) offer superior protection for pigmentation-prone skin.

Yes — brightening protocols combine naturally with most other aesthetic treatments. Brightening peels are often performed before or after HydraFacial for enhanced extraction and resurfacing. Laser skin rejuvenation and Q-switched laser target deeper pigmentation that peels cannot reach. Mesotherapy delivers brightening actives deeper than any topical. A home skincare routine with niacinamide and vitamin C extends and maintains in-clinic results.

Yes, when correctly matched to your skin type and tolerance. Sensitive skin requires gentler peels (lactic acid, enzyme peels) and more gradual protocols. A patch test is performed before any new treatment. The concentration and frequency of active treatments is adjusted based on your skin's response. At HOA, your doctor assesses your skin barrier function before recommending any brightening protocol — ensuring the approach achieves results without compromising the skin's integrity.
