Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) treatments designed to deeply hydrate the dermis, improve skin laxity, and stimulate collagen and elastin production. Unlike dermal fillers which add volume and structure to specific areas, skin boosters are spread across a wider area in micro-doses — the goal is skin quality improvement rather than volumisation. Profhilo, the most advanced skin booster, uses ultra-pure HA that spreads through the tissue to remodel the dermis from within rather than staying localised.

Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable containing one of the highest concentrations of pure HA available — 64mg in 2ml. Unlike standard HA fillers that use cross-linking chemicals, Profhilo uses thermal bonding, making it more biocompatible and allowing it to spread evenly through the skin rather than staying in one spot. It stimulates four types of collagen and elastin, significantly improving skin texture, hydration, laxity, and radiance. Two sessions one month apart form the standard protocol, with maintenance every 6 months.

Skin boosters are ideal for patients with dull, dehydrated skin, early skin laxity, fine surface lines from dehydration, crepey skin texture, or those wanting to prevent the visible signs of ageing. They are also excellent as a maintenance treatment for patients who already use fillers and Botox and want to address underlying skin quality. Suitable from the mid-20s onwards — earlier for prevention, later for restoration. Can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.

The standard Profhilo protocol is 2 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. This initial course produces peak results at 4–8 weeks after the second session, when collagen and elastin stimulation is at its most active. Maintenance sessions every 6 months sustain the improvement. Other skin boosters (Juvederm Hydrate, Restylane Vital) may require 3 initial sessions. Your doctor will recommend the appropriate product and schedule based on your skin condition.

After completing the initial Profhilo protocol, most patients see: significantly improved skin hydration and plumpness, smoother skin texture, reduced fine lines from dehydration, improved skin tone evenness, and a visible lift in skin firmness. Minimal downtime. The Profhilo protocol uses 5 injection points per side (BAP technique) which causes small temporary bumps that resolve within a few hours. Some mild redness and occasional small bruises at injection points resolve within 24–48 hours. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day. Foundation can be applied the next morning.

Yes — skin boosters complement other treatments well. They are often combined with Botox (Botox relaxes muscles, skin boosters improve skin quality), fillers (structure + quality), laser treatments (skin boosters accelerate healing and enhance results), and mesotherapy (different depths and mechanisms that work together). Your doctor will design a sequence that maximises the benefit of each treatment without contraindications.

Yes — skin boosters are one of the safest injectables for all skin types including South Asian and Pakistani skin. Because they do not cause significant volume change or structural alteration, the risk of asymmetry or unnatural results is low. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in human skin and is fully biocompatible. The main risks are bruising and temporary swelling at injection points, which resolve quickly. Serious complications are extremely rare when performed by a trained doctor.
