Chin & Jawline Enhancement

Non-surgical chin and jawline enhancement uses dermal fillers and/or Botox to reshape and define the lower face without surgery. Fillers add projection to a recessed chin, sharpen a soft jawline, and improve facial proportions. Botox to the masseter muscles slims a wide or square jaw caused by muscle hypertrophy. The combination creates a more defined, balanced lower face — results are immediate and last 9–18 months depending on the product used.

Ideal candidates are patients who feel their chin is too recessed, their jawline lacks definition, or their face lacks the V-shape or oval balance they want. Masseter Botox suits patients with jaw clenching, teeth grinding (bruxism), or a wide, square lower face caused by overdeveloped jaw muscles. Both treatments are suitable for men and women and can be performed individually or combined depending on the anatomy.

Most chin enhancements require 0.5–2ml of filler depending on how much projection or definition is needed. Jawline definition typically uses 1–3ml distributed along the mandibular border. Your doctor will assess your facial proportions — including your nose, lips and forehead — before recommending volumes, because chin and jaw corrections must be balanced with the rest of the face rather than treated in isolation.

Topical anaesthetic cream is applied before treatment and most fillers contain lidocaine (local anaesthetic), making the procedure comfortable. You will feel pressure and mild pinching. Jaw Botox injections are quick with minimal discomfort. The procedure takes 30–45 minutes in total. Mild bruising and swelling at injection sites is normal and resolves within a few days.

Chin and jawline filler results typically last 12–18 months before natural resorption occurs. Masseter Botox results last 4–6 months, after which the muscles gradually return to their previous size — repeat treatments over time can produce a more sustained slimming effect as muscles progressively reduce. Many patients top up annually to maintain their results.

When performed correctly by a skilled doctor, jawline enhancement should be undetectable — the goal is to enhance your natural features, not create an obviously treated look. The masseter is the jaw muscle responsible for chewing. When overdeveloped through grinding, clenching, or genetics, it widens the lower face and creates a square appearance. Botox injected into the masseter partially relaxes it, causing the muscle to reduce in size over 4–6 weeks — slimming the jaw and creating a softer, more oval facial shape. It also reduces jaw pain and headaches associated with bruxism.

Chin filler adds forward projection to a recessed chin, which can improve the chin-neck angle and make a double chin appear less prominent by improving the overall profile. However, it does not remove fat — if a double chin is primarily caused by excess submental fat, fat dissolving injections are the appropriate treatment. Often both are combined for a comprehensive lower face improvement.
