Dental Treatment

Crowns & Bridges

Zirconia and PFM crowns and bridges that restore broken, cracked, or missing teeth — precision-fitted by our BDS dentists using internationally sourced materials.

What Is It?

Restore Strength & Appearance in Two Visits

A cracked tooth, a heavily filled molar, a tooth after root canal treatment, or a gap left by an extraction — these situations all call for a fixed restoration that restores both function and aesthetics. Crowns and bridges are the definitive solution.

At House of Aesthetics, we use only internationally sourced, CE-certified materials — E-max and zirconia for cosmetic crowns, and Nobel Biocare-compatible components for implant crowns. Our digital impression workflow eliminates the discomfort of traditional putty impressions and improves accuracy.

Every crown and bridge case is handled by our BDS-qualified dentists with full digital shade matching, bite analysis, and aesthetic planning before any preparation begins. We work to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible while achieving the fit and appearance your smile deserves.

The Process

How It Works

1

Consultation & Treatment Planning

Your dentist assesses the tooth, takes X-rays to evaluate the root and surrounding bone, and discusses material options (zirconia vs PFM), cost, and timeline. Photos and digital shade matching are recorded.

2

Tooth Preparation & Impression

Under local anaesthetic, the tooth is shaped to create space for the crown. A precise digital or physical impression is taken and sent to the dental lab. A well-fitting temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth.

3

Crown Fabrication (7–10 days)

Your permanent crown or bridge is precision-fabricated at the dental lab to exact specifications. Zirconia restorations are milled from a solid block; E-max crowns are layered and fired for superior translucency.

4

Fitting & Cementation

The temporary is removed, the permanent crown is trialled for fit, bite, and shade. Minor adjustments are made before final cementation with dental-grade adhesive cement. You leave with a fully restored smile.

Your Care Guide

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Before Your Treatment

  • Ensure any active infection, abscess, or gum disease is treated before crown placement
  • Root canal treatment, if required, should be completed before the crown is prepared
  • Inform your dentist of any teeth grinding (bruxism) — a night guard may be recommended
  • Discuss shade preferences in natural daylight if possible — not under artificial clinic lighting
  • Arrange transport if you prefer sedation — most patients manage comfortably with local anaesthetic only

After Your Treatment

  • Avoid hard, sticky, or very chewy foods for 24 hours after cementation to allow full cement setting
  • Some sensitivity to temperature and pressure in the first 1–2 weeks is normal
  • Floss carefully around the crown margins — flossing is still essential under bridges using a threader or water flosser
  • Wear your night guard if prescribed — bruxism is the single biggest cause of crown failure
  • Attend your 6-monthly dental check-ups — margins are checked and professionally cleaned at every visit
  • Contact us immediately if the crown feels high, loose, or causes sharp pain

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental crown is a cap that fits over a single damaged, cracked, or heavily restored tooth — restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. A dental bridge uses crowns on the two teeth on either side of a gap (called abutment teeth) to support an artificial tooth (pontic) in between, replacing a missing tooth without an implant. Both are fixed restorations cemented permanently in place.

Zirconia (zirconium dioxide) crowns are all-ceramic, metal-free restorations offering exceptional strength, excellent aesthetics, and no risk of the dark metal line at the gum margin that PFM crowns can develop over time. They are the gold standard for visible teeth. PFM (Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal) crowns have a metal substructure with porcelain on the outside — durable and cost-effective, though the metal base can cause a greyish gum line and less natural light transmission. At HOA we recommend zirconia for aesthetic zones and discuss options based on your clinical needs.

Typically two appointments. At the first visit, the tooth is prepared (shaped to accommodate the crown), a digital or physical impression is taken, and a temporary crown is fitted. The permanent crown or bridge is fabricated at the dental lab (usually 7–10 days) and cemented at the second appointment. Some patients may require a third visit for minor adjustments.

The tooth preparation is performed under local anaesthetic — the procedure itself is pain-free. Some sensitivity and mild soreness around the gum after the anaesthetic wears off is normal and typically resolves within 24–72 hours. The temporary crown stage may cause some sensitivity to temperature and pressure. Once the permanent crown is cemented, most patients experience minimal discomfort.

With proper care, zirconia crowns can last 15–20 years or more. PFM crowns typically last 10–15 years. Bridges have a similar lifespan of 10–15 years depending on the number of units and biting forces involved. The main factors affecting longevity are oral hygiene, diet, bruxism (teeth grinding), and regular dental check-ups. A night guard is recommended for patients who grind their teeth.

A dental bridge is preferable when: the adjacent teeth already require crowns (so bridging adds minimal extra tooth reduction), the patient has insufficient bone for an implant without extensive grafting, budget is a significant factor, or when a faster solution is needed (bridges are completed in days, implants take months). However, implants preserve bone, do not involve reducing healthy teeth, and are the longer-term solution. Your dentist will discuss both options honestly at your consultation.

Crowns can occasionally de-cement, particularly if the tooth preparation was short, the bite is very heavy, or the cement ages over many years. If your crown comes off, keep it safe, avoid eating on that side, and contact us as soon as possible. In many cases, the same crown can be re-cemented if it is undamaged. Do not attempt to glue it yourself — over-the-counter adhesives are not dental cements and can damage the tooth or crown.

For posterior teeth (premolars and molars), a crown after root canal treatment is strongly recommended. Root-canal-treated teeth become more brittle over time and are at significant risk of fracture under biting forces without the protective coverage of a crown. For anterior (front) teeth, the decision depends on the amount of remaining tooth structure and aesthetic requirements. Your dentist will advise you at the completion of root canal treatment.

Our Standard of Care

Every Procedure. Every Time. A Qualified Doctor.

In Pakistan, many aesthetic and dental clinics use unqualified technicians for procedures that legally and ethically require a doctor. At House of Aesthetics, that is not how we operate — and never will be.

🩺

MBBS & BDS Qualified Only

Every aesthetic and dental procedure is performed by a doctor holding a recognised medical degree — MBBS for skin and aesthetic treatments, BDS for all dental work. No exceptions.

📋

PMC Registered

All our doctors are registered with the Pakistan Medical Commission. You can verify their credentials. We are a regulated practice, not a beauty salon with a medical name.

🔬

Doctor-Assessed, Doctor-Treated

Your treatment plan is designed by the doctor who examines you — not a sales consultant, not a coordinator. The same qualified professional who assesses you performs your treatment.

Our clinical team holds qualifications from University of Health Sciences Lahore, King Edward Medical University, and Cardiff University (UK) — with 17+ combined years of clinical experience.
