Dental Treatment

Braces & Orthodontics

Metal, ceramic, and lingual braces to correct crowding, spacing, bite issues and misalignment — led by Dr. Faiza Imtiaz, BDS Gold Medalist and MDS Orthodontist with 15+ years of experience.

What Is It?

Precision Orthodontics — Led by a Specialist

Fixed orthodontic treatment remains the gold standard for correcting complex misalignment, crowding, spacing, and bite issues. While clear aligners work well for mild to moderate cases, fixed braces give the orthodontist precise control over tooth movement — including rotations, extrusion, intrusion, and torque that aligners cannot always achieve.

At House of Aesthetics, orthodontic treatment is led exclusively by Dr. Faiza Imtiaz — BDS Gold Medalist, MDS in Orthodontics, and holder of internationally recognised UK dental qualifications including MFDS and MJDF. With 15+ years of specialist experience, Dr. Faiza treats cases ranging from simple alignment to complex bite correction and adult retreatment.

We offer the full range of fixed orthodontic appliances: standard metal braces, aesthetic ceramic braces (tooth-coloured brackets), and lingual braces (bonded to the inside of the teeth for complete invisibility). The right choice is discussed at your consultation based on your clinical needs, lifestyle, and preference.

The Process

How It Works

1

Orthodontic Assessment

Dr. Faiza performs a full clinical examination, digital X-rays (OPG and lateral cephalometric), and digital models of your teeth. She reviews your bite, jaw relationship, crowding, and spacing to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

2

Treatment Plan & Bonding

Your personalised treatment plan is presented with expected duration and milestones. On bonding day, brackets are carefully bonded to each tooth and the archwire is engaged. The procedure takes 60–90 minutes and is pain-free.

3

Regular Adjustments

You return every 4–8 weeks for wire changes and adjustments. At each visit, Dr. Faiza reviews tooth movement, checks oral hygiene, and progresses the treatment according to plan. The archwires gradually increase in stiffness as treatment progresses.

4

Debond & Retention

When tooth movements are complete, brackets are removed and teeth are polished. Fixed lingual retainers are bonded and a removable retainer is provided. Your final result is documented with photographs and X-rays.

Your Care Guide

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Before Your Treatment

  • Have any active cavities, gum disease, or required extractions treated before braces are bonded
  • Schedule a professional scale and polish — starting orthodontic treatment with clean teeth reduces risk of decalcification
  • Invest in the right tools: orthodontic toothbrush, interdental brushes, floss threaders, and fluoride mouthwash
  • Plan your first week of soft foods — the first few days after bonding are the most uncomfortable
  • Discuss your full dental and medical history with Dr. Faiza — some medications and conditions affect tooth movement

After Your Treatment

  • Brush after every meal, every single day — food trapped in brackets causes white spot lesions that are permanent
  • Attend every adjustment appointment — missing appointments extends treatment time
  • Contact the clinic if a bracket de-bonds or a wire pokes — do not leave it until your next appointment
  • Wear your retainer as prescribed after treatment — indefinitely for the fixed retainer, nightly long-term for the removable
  • Attend 6-monthly dental check-ups throughout orthodontic treatment for cleaning and cavity checks
  • Be patient — tooth movement takes time, and the timeline is a guide, not a guarantee

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Metal braces use stainless steel brackets and wires — the most visible but also the most robust and cost-effective option, with the widest range of correctable tooth movements. Ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces use brackets that blend with the natural tooth colour, making them far less noticeable than metal while delivering comparable results. Lingual braces are bonded to the inside (tongue-facing) surface of the teeth, making them completely invisible from the front. Each type has clinical strengths and the right choice depends on your case complexity, lifestyle, and preference.

Treatment duration depends on the severity of crowding, spacing, or bite issues being corrected. Mild cases may be resolved in 12–18 months. Moderate cases typically take 18–24 months. More complex bite corrections, skeletal discrepancies, or significant tooth movements may take 24–36 months. Dr. Faiza Imtiaz will give you a specific estimate at your orthodontic assessment based on your digital X-rays and clinical examination.

There is discomfort — particularly in the first week after bonding and for 2–3 days after each adjustment appointment when the pressure on teeth is renewed. This discomfort is manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. The mouth also takes 2–4 weeks to adapt to the brackets. Most patients describe it as manageable pressure rather than sharp pain, and report that it becomes much easier after the first month.

Absolutely — there is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment. We treat many adult patients at HOA, including working professionals who prefer ceramic or lingual braces for discretion. Adult treatment may take slightly longer than adolescent treatment due to denser bone, and adults who have had extractions or significant dental work may need more planning. Dr. Faiza's advanced post-graduate training makes her well-equipped to manage complex adult orthodontic cases.

Not always. Many crowding and spacing cases can be resolved without extraction, particularly if there is sufficient arch space or the jaw can be expanded. In cases of severe crowding or significant bite discrepancy, strategic extraction of one or more premolars creates the space needed for ideal alignment. This decision is made after a full orthodontic assessment including X-rays and digital models — never as a default approach.

Hard foods that require biting force (hard bread, raw carrots, apples — cut these into pieces), sticky and chewy foods (toffee, chewing gum, sticky sweets), and crunchy snacks (popcorn, hard chips). These can break brackets, bend wires, or get trapped in the appliance. Soft foods — pasta, rice, yoghurt, eggs, soft fruit — are ideal, especially after adjustment appointments when teeth are more tender.

Oral hygiene with braces requires more effort but is critical. Brush after every meal using a soft brush at a 45-degree angle to the brackets. Use an interdental brush (proxy brush) to clean under the archwire and between brackets. Floss daily using a floss threader or orthodontic flosser. Water flossers are highly effective as an adjunct. Fluoride mouthwash provides additional protection. Your dentist will review your hygiene technique at every appointment.

Yes — retainers are non-negotiable after orthodontic treatment. Teeth have a natural tendency to drift back toward their pre-treatment position (relapse) without retention. A fixed lingual retainer bonded to the back of the front teeth is recommended for long-term stability, often supplemented by a removable night retainer. Retainer wear is the final phase of orthodontic treatment — and the one that protects your investment for life.

Our Standard of Care

Every Procedure. Every Time. A Qualified Doctor.

In Pakistan, many aesthetic and dental clinics use unqualified technicians for procedures that legally and ethically require a doctor. At House of Aesthetics, that is not how we operate — and never will be.

🩺

MBBS & BDS Qualified Only

Every aesthetic and dental procedure is performed by a doctor holding a recognised medical degree — MBBS for skin and aesthetic treatments, BDS for all dental work. No exceptions.

📋

PMC Registered

All our doctors are registered with the Pakistan Medical Commission. You can verify their credentials. We are a regulated practice, not a beauty salon with a medical name.

🔬

Doctor-Assessed, Doctor-Treated

Your treatment plan is designed by the doctor who examines you — not a sales consultant, not a coordinator. The same qualified professional who assesses you performs your treatment.

Our clinical team holds qualifications from University of Health Sciences Lahore, King Edward Medical University, and Cardiff University (UK) — with 17+ combined years of clinical experience.
